Terms of Service — Strathdon Press

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of strathdonpress.co.za (the “Site”) and any purchase of physical or digital books through it. By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1. About Us
Strathdon Press is a publishing house within the Strathdon Group, publishing titles for the Group and for authors beyond it. Day-to-day site operations are managed on our behalf by Strathdon Manor Media (Pty) Ltd.
2. Orders and Payment
All prices are shown in South African Rand and are inclusive of VAT where applicable, unless stated otherwise for international orders. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors and to decline or cancel an order, including after payment, in cases of pricing error, suspected fraud, or unavailability of stock, in which case any payment made will be refunded in full.
A contract of sale is formed when we send you an order confirmation, not when you place the order.
3. Physical Books
Delivery times, shipping costs, and return conditions for physical books are set out in our Returns and Refunds Policy at strathdonpress.co.za/refund-returns-policy.
4. Digital Books (Ebooks)
On purchase of a digital title, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download and read the title for your own personal use. You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, or make the file available to others. Because digital content is delivered instantly and cannot practically be “returned” once accessed, our Returns and Refunds Policy sets out the specific, limited circumstances in which a refund is available for digital purchases.
5. Manuscript Submissions
If you submit a manuscript to us, that submission is governed by our separate Submission Guidelines and Waiver at strathdonpress.com/submission-guidelines, which forms part of these Terms by reference. Submitting a manuscript does not create any publishing obligation on our part.
6. Intellectual Property
Published titles remain subject to the copyright of their respective authors and/or Strathdon Press, as set out in the applicable publishing agreement. Site content, design, and the “STRATHDON PRESS” name and mark are owned by or licensed to Strathdon Press. Other Strathdon Group names and marks belong to their respective group companies.
7. Acceptable Use
- Use the Site only for lawful purposes.
- Do not attempt to circumvent any digital rights management or access controls on digital titles.
- Do not copy, scrape, or republish Site content, including catalogue listings, without our written consent.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits any right or remedy you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, including your rights regarding the quality and fitness for purpose of goods sold to you as a consumer. Subject to that, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site or purchase of a title is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant order.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Nothing in this clause removes any statutory protection you’re entitled to as a consumer in your own country of residence, where applicable.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
